Ms. Coleman was named Elementary School Teacher of the Year by Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators! You are an amazing innovative teacher that has worked very hard on integrating technology into your daily instruction to better improve student engagement and comprehension. You aren't afraid of taking risks or trying new things with your instruction and that is evident in your 21st-century classroom. Anyone that walks into your classroom can see the bond that you have formed with your students and we are so proud of you!

Getting to know Ms. Coleman...

Affton Coleman is from East St. Louis, Illinois where she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She went on to pursue her master's degree from Prairie View A & M University in educational administration. Ms. Coleman began teaching in 2009 where she started her professional career at Orange Grove Elementary, then moved to Spring ISD, and for the last 6 years have been at A. W. Jones elementary. In the years she has been teaching Ms. Coleman has mastered her craft and love for teaching. To accomplish this she dedicates her time to any child she encounters by meeting them where they are using an innovative teaching style.
